Bowling Green, Kentucky
Performing Arts

Public Theatre of Kentucky (PTK) is dedicated to enriching the cultural life of Bowling Green and the surrounding regions through the production of high-quality theatre and performing arts events. It seeks to create a safe and inclusive space where diverse identities, ideas, cultures, and opinions are welcomed and cultivated. The PTK cultivates and promotes diverse art through its role as a home to theatre arts, music, and visual arts. Through relationships with local artists of all genres, PTK collaborates in all areas and disciplines of arts in the region. Its programming features diverse productions such as the Kentucky Voices original work Talley Road by Portia Pennington and A Song for Coretta by Pearl Cleage, both of which featured all female African American casts, presented in conjunction with Black History Month.  Talking With, a collection of all female monologues, was presented in conjunction with Women’s History Month. PTK has tackled the issues of alcoholism, mental health, and political division with Other Desert Cities, adoption with Inside Out Atlas, childhood cancer with Barefoot Children in the City of Ward, autism with Oddly Puddle, and LGBTQIA issues with She Kills MonstersHeathers, and The Laramie Project. It supports diversity in the community by participating in Bowling Green Pride each October and The Possibilities Expo (formerly the Special Needs Expo) each March. With both visual and performing arts, and serving as a safe space for youth and adult artists, no matter what their age, race, or sexual orientation, PTK will continue to plant seeds of awareness in the audience and community and promote diversity.  Public Theatre of Kentucky’s vision is to be a leading arts organization and to serve as a catalyst for creativity, inspiration, and education in our community.
