The Promises Film Company, founded in 1995 by B. Z. Goldberg and Justine Shapiro, uses the power of film and television to support the Middle East peace process. The Company’s film, Promises, is a documentary on peace and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, as seen through the eyes of children living in and around Jerusalem. It was filmed between 1997 and the summer of 2000. Nominated for Best Documentary of the 2002 Academy Awards, Promises has already won several awards, including the Audience Award of the 2001 Rotterdam International Film Festival, and the Best Documentary and Audience Award of the 2001 San Francisco International Film Festival.
