Paul Shakespear is a painter who has created a body of work both imagistic and architectonic. He uses canvas, lead, wood, slate, and other surfaces to create sensual and hauntingly beautiful abstract paintings. He has had many solo shows in Boston and New York. His work is also in public and private collections including the Addison Gallery of American Art, in Andover, Massachusetts, and the DeCordova Museum in Concord, Massachusetts. His work is included in the Fall 2002 retrospective exhibition at the DeCordova, Painting in Boston: 1950 – 2000.
