Oni Woods

2016 Tanne Award Recipient
Nashvlle, Tennessee
Multipotentialite artist

O The Unstoppable: Oni Woods describes herself as a “multipotentialite”: having multiple passions and being multitalented. Because of her love of learning, she has successfully studied and worked in many disciplines: finance, theatre, psychology, biology, education, advertising, and philosophy, to name some. She founded Living Art, NFP in 2005 (a performing arts & education non-profit working to inspire and uplift underserved communities). Poetry is Oni’s first voice and love, and her wordsmithing is woven into her very fabric. She also has a wondrous penchant for style and fashion. After 16 years in Chicago, IL, Nashville, TN, is home again. And, in true Tennessee style, she’s an outdoor enthusiast. As an ordained interfaith reverend, she’s practiced and studied many world religions and philosophies. Nashville Arts Magazine’s June 2016 issue features Oni and she recently released her latest book Illinois 19: poems on the way home. Her next book of poetry, Burn, will be published this year. She recently recorded two poms, To Be You and My Skin and released them on iTunes and other online platforms. She also uses the studio for her voice-over work.
