Scott Turner Schofield (Kt Kilborn)

2004 Tanne Award Recipient
Atlanta, GA
writer and performer

A transgender-identified feminist, Kt Kilborn, aka Scott Turner, believes in the power of performance art as social activism. His work combines “her” voice with the music that moves “him,” thus contrasting the social politics we must all negotiate. Kt performs for those who believe in finding themselves, in spite of themselves, in the bodies and words onstage. Kt writes solo pieces and creates collaborative events with people in the community who vocalize all sides of an issue. Acclaimed works include a transgender piece set in a subway and an evocation of a new kind of coming out at a debutante ball.
