Eugene Tachinni, Fruitland, New Mexico, is a visual and performance artist. He grew up in Kirtland, New Mexico, a border town that sits on the northern edge of the Navajo Reservation. Tachinni’s early work has direct connections to the social, political, and racial tensions and relationships of the area. His current work doesn’t have the same explicit connection to those spaces, but they are alive and continue to motivate his work. He recently moved back to the reservation after many years in Utah, and has a renewed interest in the tensions that sit on the surface but also those that reside in the earth below.
