David Miller
Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts
Poet

David P. Miller’s first commitments to the arts were in mainstream theater and classical music. In his early twenties his interest had expanded into experimental theater and performance. From 1980 to 2007 he was a member of the interdisciplinary Mobius Artists Group (MAG), based in Boston. With Mobius, his work included original solo performances as well as group collaborations. Working with MAG members and guest artists, he developed realizations of theater texts by Gertrude Stein as well as John Cage’s ambient/theatrical Variations series. He was also active as an actor/performer or sound designer with TheatreWorks, Theater S., and the Invisible Cities Group. In recent years he began writing and presenting poetry, with public readings, many journal publications, and two books: Sprawled Asleep (Nixes Mate Press, 2019) and Bend in the Stair (Lily Poetry Review Books, 2021). He co-directs the Chapter and Verse reading series in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, and is a member of the New England Poetry Club’s Board of Directors. He lives in Jamaica Plain with his wife, the surrealist visual artist Jane Wiley.
